As always there was a great turn out at the
"Rotary Club of Dyce" Funday.
We were there with the Red Bus and
we were very busy.
Dyce Parish Church have agreed to use the Red Bus
for youth outreach in Dyce. We are currently in the process of helping
to organise this regular use of the Red Bus.
At 8am Graham and Vince collected the Big Red Bus from Oasis church and drove it to Dyce where the rest of the PAR Dyce gang were waiting. It was all hands on deck (top and bottom) to get the bus ready for 1pm.
Craig and Vince were the technical team, and they did well to familiarise themselves with the Playstations and the sound system and get them running. Gregor was the man at the coffee and tea station who worked tirelessly supplying the refreshments.
Ken Knight a car which could have been renamed 'The Citroen Tardis', which contained everything; Gazebos, tools, string, scissors and tape. Best of all he set up a wee stove where we feasted on bacon at 9am(wonderful).
At 1pm Neville Paul marched in the pipe band to begin the Funday. The Weather was glorious and it was not long before the Big Red Bus created a lot of interest from the kids and adults alike.
Ken Roach was kept busy with the Hoopla stall and combined with Ken Knight alongside with a Tin can stall an abundance of laughter and joy could be heard. Sandra and
Moira also helped at the stalls and seemed to enjoy it as much as the kids. Craig, Vince, Gregor and Manson kept all entertained inside the bus while Ian and Graham were outside at the PAR Dyce stall.
During the day a Tug O' War took place and PAR Dyce entered a team of eight burly boys. Despite a convincing win over the Marriot&Menzies team, we had to settle for second place, with the Asda team the victors.
The Dyce Rotary Club Funday was a big success for PAR Dyce with the Big Red Bus creating a lot of interest from young and old.
A big thank you to the
Dyce Rotary Club for inviting PAR Dyce to publicise their efforts in the community of Dyce, And thank you to all the volunteers who took part, and to the people of Dyce and the visitors who made the whole day possible.

On Saturday 15th of August 2009 PAR Dyce carried out another clean up at
central park Dyce. At 9am we all met at Dyce primary school car park to be faced with very wet conditions and the rain getting steadily worse.
Fifteen volunteers turned up and
after a few minutes debate it was decided we should brave the elements and get going.
The grass was very wet so we decided to clean the pathways, playground area and the multi purpose play area beside the shopping centre. The crew got to work in the usual high spirits, the weather did not dampen our action at all.
A number of bags were full by the end and
a considerable amount of glass was removed from the multi purpose play area making it safe again for the kids in Dyce.
Many thanks from PAR Dyce to all who helped and took part. A well earned cup of coffee and a chat was appreciated at the Asda food court even although all were a bit drookit.
Original pictures will soon be available in our photo album.

9th May Free Car Wash kept
the Volunteers busy.

See our photo album for original images.
On Saturday 9th May 2009 PAR Dyce held a Free car wash at Dyce primary school for the community of Dyce.
Volunteers in attendance were Gregor, Graham, Ken K., Anupe, Ashutosh, Ken R. and Keiran. At 8:30am the hoses and water supply from Pru's new tap were turned on, soap buckets filled, sponges at the ready, wheel cleaner and air freshener side by side, PAR Dyce were raring to go for the 9am start.
The weather was changeable with sunny spells. Custom was slow at first but once word was put round that 'your car could be washed free of charge, with a smile and some humour from the high spirited volunteers sometimes breaking into song' the cars came rolling in.
Manson, the minister at Dyce parish church came in to have his car washed and was so impressed he went and got some muffins for our break and then stayed to give us support.
Mid morning Gregor provided us with tea and coffee to go with the muffins, this was much appreciated as quite a bit of energy was used washing the cars.
Some people were surprised that they were getting something for nothing and wanted us to accept their donations but we stressed we were there to benefit and help the community of Dyce. One customer did give us a home made banana loaf which went down very well with a cup of tea.
Our day ended at 2:30pm when the weather broke and rain stopped work. It was another successful event for PAR Dyce helping us raise awareness of our presence and willingness to help the community of Dyce. And we look forward to more events throughout the year, helping the community and people of Dyce.
Remember if you would like to request our assistance or suggest a project to us you can do so through our contact us page or talk to one of the men if you know them.

A lady at Glentanar Cresent in Dyce had become concerned about her garden hedge which was becoming a danger to people using the footpath. Being unable to cut back the hedge herself, she contacted P.A.R. Dyce and we were more than happy to help. In July 08 three of the P.A.R. Dyce men went into action. Arriving early Ian Milne, Graham Paul and Ian Ramsay working once again like a well oiled machine trimmed the hedge and collected the cuttings in a garden waste bin and not even stopping for coffee on what was a hot sunny morning.
While we were there the lady also mentioned a problem with her doorway, a loose fitting was tripping up people. A quick investigation by the P.A.R. Dyce team found the problem and quickly repaired the matwell.
The lady was very pleased with the P.A.R. Dyce work and we were happy to be of assistance.
We are here to help the people of Dyce and if you need something done
or know of someone who we could assist don't hesitate to contact us.
