Who are PAR-Dyce?
PAR was set up by a group of like minded men in Dyce early in 2008, who had recently attended the Mandate men`s conference in Belfast but were getting fed up of the decreasing lack of “Community Spirit” in the area. We are a group in Dyce who come from all different backgrounds and lifestyles, age being no barrier, young and old. We formed an informal group to look at community issues and problems that we could apply our talents and skills to with a view to making life a little better for those living in Dyce.
What does PAR stand for?
Ponder - We will always fully consider any project or situation put before us to carry out a feasibility study and risk analysis to see if we can make a positive impact within the resources that we have available.
Action – The main objective of our group. Once a task or project has passed the Ponder stage a timescale is set and the project will be carried out.
Reflection – We feel it is very important to look back on a project or task to consider what could have been done better to learn for next time and also to agree if the Action had achieved the desired effect.
What is your main purpose?
We aim to provide a service, helping and supporting the community in Dyce.
Why do you offer this service?
We take pride in where we live, so therefore we are always looking at ways to improve not only the environment around us but also helping the less fortunate individual or groups who may be struggling.
How do you provide this service?
We can provide resources for many situations or needs that may arise, from painting a fence, picking up litter or just a friendly face or voice to talk to.
How much do you charge for this service?
We ask for no payment for any activities we take part in, so the benefits of using our group are fulfillment and achievement from being able to help, support and make a difference to someone or some group within the community of Dyce.
When and Where do you meet?
At present we meet on the last Wednesday night of the month at a venue in Dyce. This could be one of the local pubs or a community based building. We are always looking for new venues be it a workplace or even a house! The meeting place is conveyed by Email and on this website www.pardyce.co.uk approximatly one week before the meeting.
Our next meeting is September 24th and we will soon arrange our location and time. To see more about our next meeting click here.
Do we need to become a member of your group to participate?
We are also grateful if anyone comes forward and would like to help us in our voluntary work, also you do not need to be a member of our group to help, we are grateful when anyone comes forward to help us in our voluntary work on the day.
Where do you find ideas for your activities?
Ideas come from 'searching the internet', attending conferences, discussions amongst ourselves, etc. However, we welcome any and all ideas that you may have, and we are keen to listen to anyone who contacts us.
What if I have an idea of something you could help with or become involved with myself?
We are very open minded at PAR and will be glad to hear of a Dyce Community based or focused project from anyone regardless of the fact they may wish to join our group or not. The focus of PAR is on fellowship as well. Men are often not very good at meeting outside usual Pub/Sports ground situation however the men involved in PAR will look to develope friendship and we have plans for a future weekend retreat and other social events not linked to community based projects.
